Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Energy Datacom website, published from Adelaide, South Australia. By browsing this site you accept the terms set out below. If you do not agree with them, the appropriate step is simply not to continue using the site.
A. Purpose of this website. Energy Datacom publishes editorial, plain-language explanations of how smart meter data is structured, how off-peak and shoulder electricity tariffs work, which household devices commonly draw standby power, and how solar feed-in tariffs are generally regulated or set by retailers across Australian states and territories. We also explain how the Australian Energy Regulator's Energy Made Easy tool can be used to compare retail electricity offers. We do not sell electricity plans, solar panels, batteries, meters or any related hardware, and nothing published here should be read as an offer to sell any such product or service.
B. Not personal advice. Content on this site is general in nature. It does not take into account your individual circumstances, household usage pattern, contract terms or financial situation. Nothing on this site constitutes financial, legal or professional advice, and it should not be relied upon as a substitute for reviewing your own bill, contract, or the current details published by your retailer, distributor or the Australian Energy Regulator.
C. Accuracy of information. We take reasonable care to reference publicly available material when describing tariff structures, feed-in tariff mechanisms and comparison processes, and we periodically review published articles. Electricity regulation and retailer offers change over time and differ across jurisdictions, networks and even individual accounts. We do not guarantee that any figure, mechanism or process described on this site remains current at the time you read it, and we recommend verifying details directly with your retailer, network distributor, or the Energy Made Easy website before making any decision.
D. Intellectual property. The text, layout, and original graphics on this site are owned by Energy Datacom unless otherwise indicated. You may read, print or share individual pages for personal, non-commercial reference. Reproducing substantial portions of this site for commercial purposes without permission is not permitted.
E. External links. This site links to external resources, including the Australian Energy Regulator's Energy Made Easy website and various state regulator sites, for reference purposes. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or accuracy. Linking to an external site does not imply endorsement of that site or any organisation behind it.
F. Limitation of liability. To the extent permitted by the Australian Consumer Law under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and other applicable law, Energy Datacom excludes liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, information published on this site. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
G. Changes to these terms. We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in how the site operates or in applicable law. The version published on this page, dated 2 July 2026, is the current version.
H. Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia, and any dispute arising from your use of this site is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Australia.
